Through a tender supply, Vertu Medical were awarded for the supply of a relocatable MRI Siemens Avanto 18 channel system

with the small animals hospital at the University of Edinburgh. The award also involved Vertu medical carrying out the installation works on site, design and build of a link corridor from the relocatable into the small animals hospital and full project support.

Vertu Medical engaged early on with the team at the veterinary hospital and the suppliers of the Relocatable to ensure that the unit was designed and built to maximise the internal space and allow optimum use, taking the users and the patients into full consideration.

The relocatable unit has also allowed for specialist use of anaesthetic equipment and provision of medical gases aswell as allowing for full IT connectivity with the hospital and integration with site infrastructure systems.

The link corridor was also designed with the same project team and was built to specification to comply fully with local regulations allowing again to maximise the space and make it user friendly

The feedback from the users and the small animal hospital project team has been fantastic and our solution has fully complemented their existing imaging services. The patients and their owners experience a much better patient journey with an improved quality of imaging.

I am writing regarding our recent MRI Unit installation at the Hospital for Small Animal, Edinburgh University The project was successfully completed in May 2018 by Vertu Medical. Vertu Medical had won the business through an EU Open Tender process which closed in January 2017.

The award included the installation of the MRI scanner Avanto 18 channels system from Siemens, a relocatable which hosts the MRI scanner, the MRI control room and the plant room and a link corridor that connects the MRI relocatable to the Hospital for Small Animal.

The relocatable unit is fitted with high standard anaesthestic equipment and medical gases in order to guarantee patient safety during the MRI procedure. The MRI control room is spacious and fully equipped in order to guarantee safety and
comfort to our staff member while the MRI scanner is in use.

MRI images are acquired and transfer to our PACS system by a full IT connectivity in order to guarantee prompt visualization of the images throughout the Hospital. The MRI Unit has improved patient care and client experience. We also received fantastic and positive feedback from our donors who very kindly helped us in collecting funds for purchasing the MRI Unit.

We hope our new MRI system will continue to play an integral part of the Hospital for Small Animals capabilities for years to come.
